Designer Storyboards
One of my favorite products is our designer storyboard. I’ve made hundreds of these custom-designed art pieces, but I realized that I haven’t shared one in awhile. Since our designer storyboards are such a custom product, we actually offer our client the chance to sit down and design over my shoulder, making this part static art and part performance art. For Marina’s piece, shown below, I incorporated elements from the Turkish flag. Marina spent a year on a Rotary exchange in Turkey, so the country is a special part of her high school years. I felt like that gave this piece just the added dimension it needs to be a very personal piece of art.
Designer Storyboards
One of the things we love making at Shinn Photo is custom art. I’ve been creating Designer Storyboards for a few years now, and they’ve been really popular. Since it is one of our nicer products, this year I’ve decided to include the nicest of our new frame options, as well. Here’s a designer storyboard I made for Kylee.
Style Advice?
Okay, readers, I’m asking for your help. Please help me calibrate my taste.
Background: I create storyboards, digital art pieces, and multi-photo vunders on a regular basis. So far I’ve kind of been forging my own style on these. But there’s a certain style that seems really popular with lots of other photographers, and it’s offered for sale in lots of templates and such. I created a layout similar to this style from a recent session (you can see it below).
Question: Do you like this? Would people want something of this style in their homes? Or should I stick with the previous style I had going? Or does anyone really even care? Help me out here, guys. Leave comments by using the link at the bottom of this post.
Senior portrait of the day: Annarae
Here’s a storyboard I made for Annarae. She’s a really sweet, cool girl, and I had a great time with her and her dad. This one’s hanging in our gallery. My only regret is that I didn’t print it larger!
Senior Portrait of the Day: Andrew
They call his A-Rod, and he’s every bit as cool as the baseball player. (Probably cooler; I’m not a big Yankees fan.) Thanks for the fun, Andrew!
Storyboard of the Day: Jacob
Jacob is a cool guy, and he’s nearing graduation now. I enjoyed shooting in the studio and on location with him. Here’s his storyboard!
Storyboard of the day: Claire
I posted some photos from Claire’s session earlier, but here’s the storyboard we ended up making for her. Enjoy!
Senior Portrait of the Day: Geoffrey
Geoffrey is 18, and he’s been racing cars (like, seriously racing on a circuit and everything) for more than 5 years. We had a cool session in the studio. This is a 30-inch storyboard I designed for him. Thanks for the fun, Geoffrey!
Senior Portrait of the Day: Michael
Michael’s my cousin, and we had a great session near Lodi. We actually broke into an abandoned winery, which is one of the coolest places I’ve ever shot. The background of this storyboard is actually the inside of a rusted grape truck we found at the winery.
