Shinn Photo designs featured on HP’s Magcloud site

It’s not a huge deal, but we’re flattered. MagCloud, the print-on-demand publisher that we use for our product menus and Camera Camp guidebooks, has featured our Family Lifestyle product menu as an example.  It’s not the first time we’ve been featured elsewhere on the interwebs, but it’s still fun that someone recognizes the work we’ve been doing.  It’s particularly an honor to be featured by MagCloud, because they have a host of really interesting photographers publishing with them.  Thanks, HP and Magcloud!

Hold My Memories

At Shinn Photo, we’re experimenting with a program called Hold My Memories. There are three parts of HMM:

  1. Your Studio Portraits
  2. Your Personal Photos
  3. Free Sessions

Your Studio Portraits

We’ll upload the portraits you purchase from your studio session with Shinn Photo.  They’ll be online for 30 days for you to see, share on Facebook, MySpace (does anyone still use that?) or Twitter.  If you choose to upgrade to a premium account ($9.95 per month), your photos will continue to be available as long as your account is active.

Your Personal Photos

In a recent Kabooza global backup study of 4,257 computer users, 82% of those surveyed don’t regularly back up their photos.  At Shinn Photo, we’re (probably over-)zealous about backing up our images.  On site backups are good; off-site backups are better.  We do both.

Do you? If not, we’ll sign you up for a FREE Hold My Memories account, and you can start backing up your photos TODAY. If you choose to upgrade to a premium account ($9.95 a month), you can back up an unlimited number of photos.  $9.95 for unlimited peace of mind? Sign me up!

Free Sessions

For each month that you hold a premium membership on Hold My Memories, we’ll credit $9.95  toward your next portrait session with us.  Just let us know you’d like to use your credit, and we’ll apply it toward your next session fee.

How Do I Sign Up?

Just give us a call at the studio (643-2072) and tell us you want to make a Hold My Memories account.  We’ll upload your professional portraits right into your account, and you can handle the upgrade to a premium account from the comfort of your own computer.

If you want to see our family site on Hold My Memories, here it is: http://holdmymemories.com/shinnphoto.  Feel free to leave questions in the comments here, or catch us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/shinnphoto.  Ciao!

Moving the Studio!

I know word has gotten around, but I just wanted to make it official: we’re moving the studio!  We plan to be out of the old studio by the end of February.  The new studio is directly around the corner, and we’ve already had a lot of people stop in to see the new place.

There’s some construction to do, many new areas to decorate, and a lot of gear to move.  But we’re confident this will be a better space for us and for our clients.  So bear with us as we move; we’re continuing to operate as close to normally as possible while we mange the move.  Of course we’ll post a note here when we hold our opening party.  And photos will follow as we finish re-decorating, painting, and readying the new space.  For now, here’s a map to our new location, 1015 G Street in Reedley:

Public Art in City Hall

The good folks at the City of Reedley have displayed several Shinn Photo art pieces at City Hall! You can see the pieces (one of which is below) in the lobby off 9th Street. I’m proud of the place where we live, and I’m happy to share these pieces I’ve made with the rest of the town. Stop by City Hall and see them some time!

These pieces are some of the first few prints I’ll be putting together in a forthcoming Shinn Photo Art Print catalogue. Watch this blog for more details!

New addition to our family

At 2:30 am Saturday morning we welcomed Clara Marie Shinn to our family. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 19.75 inches in length. She’s healthy and Lisa is doing well. We’re back at work this Monday working on orders for people who are giving Shinn Photo portraits as Christmas gifts. Here are a few pictures. Enjoy!
