It’s always fun meeting a new person, but it can be nerve-wracking to have your picture taken by someone you just met. That was the case for Bob, one of our local city councilmen. Luckily, Bob and I have some friends in common, and he’s a likable guy. As a retired law enforcement professional, he’s used to dealing with all kinds of people. And he’s got some great stories, too.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes shot from my headshot session with him. I like the honesty inherent in a picture like this. It’s not a portrait of a person, but of a scene. It’s self-conscious in scope, with nothing hidden. Just the way a real portrait should be. (This is not the first time I’ve posted a behind-the-scenes photo from a studio portait portrait session recently, for those who are keeping score at home.)

Here’s a photo quick tip with some easy suggestions for backing up your images. All hard drives fail in time; it’s a fact. And you can pay a little up front to protect your images, or you can pay a LOT to someone like DriveSavers to recover your data. How much? The last quote I got from DriveSavers was around $3000 for a relatively small hard drive. When you have something as important as people’s precious memories on your computer, you can’t afford NOT to back them up. Watch and learn!

Mother + Daughter = a special bond

I was honored to photograph this pair of ladies! Lori and Sarah share a special relationship. It was down right fun to be in the camera room together. Sarah is a spunky 7th grader who looks great in front of the camera. She likes to laugh, likes ‘Black Veiled Brides’ and seems to enjoy hangin’ out with her mom. Lori enjoys her children and supports what they are into even though it might not be her first choice of music, activity, etc. I really respect that in her. She’s fun loving and simply enjoys life. Enjoy the collection of their images from their mother/daughter session a couple weeks ago!
